here in the PNW we have a lot of moisture, and if you’ve done house work here you have inevitably pulled open a decaying scrap of plywood that serves to close off a crawl space. this idea came to me one day as i was laying under a house and i hastened to the hardware store with my brain whirring.

this is made from PVC trim, the jamb is fastened into the foundation, and the door just press-fits into place. in this case the fit was just perfect so i felt it didn’t need anything more but on the next one i may integrate some magnets to keep the door captive.

i was super satisfied with the way it cleaned up a normally-dismal looking part of the house, and it should last for a long, long time.
